The extraordinary and straightforward red stripe created by former club president Daniel Hechter is the core of Paris Saint-Germain's identity, and it has produced so many classic jerseys in the past 50 years.
"The Esther stripe is a special symbol of Paris Saint-Germain. I think it would be more appropriate to wear such a classic version on this important anniversary," said defender Marquinhos. "Think of all the clubs. The famous jerseys and great players are all related to it (the Esther stripe). It’s amazing. Now, it’s time for our team to wear this beautiful design to make its own history."
Esther stripes first appeared in 1973, three years after the club was founded. The 2020-21 season home jersey draws inspiration from this long-established early design, which is expressed as a thick red vertical stripe, outlined in white, and stands out from the blue background. A further tribute to the jerseys of the 1970s, the new jersey has a V-neck with overlapping necklines and ribbed trim on the cuffs.
The phrase "Paris Saint-Germain 50 Ans (Paris Saint-Germain 50 Ans)" appears on the blue strips on both sides of the body, and the small tricolor label at the hem provides additional elegance. In addition, blue shorts and ball socks complement the perfect image from head to toe....
